Wouldn’t you agree?
In today’s day and age you’re probably focusing all of your marketing efforts to get new customers using the internet and any online marketing strategies that you can get your grubby little hands on.
Everyone uses the internet for everything – searching for solutions to problems – i.e. products or services that your business sells. You name it.
I go straight to Google when I am trying to look for an answer to a question or need to do research.
How do you think your customers find you?
They type their problem into the Google machine and depending what they search for your business will come up as an answer to their problem.
This brings us back to what this post is all about.
What is the best online marketing tool for customer acquisition?
Yes, I did not stutter there. I said blogging. We’ll dive into some statistics as to why here.
Small businesses that blog see an increase in the number of leads they generate by 126%.
You’re 13x more likely to enjoy a positive ROI. (Source: HubSpot)
Companies who blog receive 97% more links to their website. (Source: HubSpot)
Now as a small business owner what do you think of those numbers?
It tells me if you’re not using blogging as a marketing tool to acquire new customers, then you’re missing the boat.
Also, if you were to tell me that if I use blogging as a lead generation tool that I can increase the number of leads that I receive by 126% I would say sign me up!
More leads = More potential new customers
Pretty simple. As you know it’s a numbers game.
Never blogged before? Tried blogging, but did not do it consistently?
Do not fret my fellow business owner as we’ll walk through the nuts and bolts of it here.
Blogging is one of the most effective marketing strategies you can employ in your business to acquire customers
Blogging is simply an attraction strategy, where what you write solves a problem for your potential customer.
How do you figure out what to write about?
A little earlier I talked about going to the Google machine and typing in a question that I want an answer to.
Essentially, I am typing in a problem I am currently experiencing and what pops up will be various solutions to that problem.
The top results that show up – i.e. solutions are there based on relevance to what you typed in the search box, in addition to some 200+ ranking factors that Google uses to determine who gets the top spots.
We could talk about all of that mumbo jumbo, but you would get a brain freeze and be bored to tears and never come back to read my blog. So I’ll spare you that pain for now.
Each of those words that you type in have a search volume associated with them and using various tools you figure out what are the highly searched terms and combine them together forming a question.
Then you write a blog post that solves that problem.
Good. I hope so.
To get the most out of your blogging efforts so you have an unstoppable lead generation machine, you MUST do the following in each blog post.
- Solve one problem
- For one person
- At one time
- Using one solution
I learned this from my friend Don Purdum and he is definitely worth getting to know.
So what do I mean by one problem?
Take the title of this blog post – Best Online Marketing Tool For Customer Acquisition
Which means I am only going to talk about what the best online marketing tool for customer acquisition is. In this case that tool is blogging. I am not going to talk about social media, Google Adwords, or Facebook Ads. Strictly blogging.
Are you with me?
What does for one person mean?
It simply means I am talking to you the small business owner. Now typically you want to be as specific as possible. For my sake here today, this post is rather broad as I am not talking about a specific type of small business owner.
Any small business owner in any number of industries can you use blogging to generate leads, which lead to more sales for you.
Are you picking up what I am putting down? Good. Let’s move on.
What does at one time mean?
For each blog post you write offer you’re only going to offer one solution to that one problem.
Let’s recap what we’ve discussed so far.
Blogging is an attraction strategy where you write a blog post that solves one problem, for one person, at one time, using one solution.
In essence when you do this you’re displaying that you’re competent and really know you’re stuff.
What happens when you display competence to your potential customers?
It can drastically improve your chances of them doing business with you. As they believe that you can really help them with a problem they are currently experiencing.
When was the last time you looked to someone who was incompetent to help you solve a problem?
Better yet, someone to do business with?
My guess is never.
One key element that we have not touched on that is critical in your business to maximize the lead generation benefits of blogging is:
You need to consistently publish new problem solving blog posts or content.
Now more than ever it takes a lot more consumption on the part of your potential customer before that are ready to buy from you.
As a matter of fact that number is 2-fold over a couple of years ago.
Additionally, as the economic landscape continues to change it make take your prospective customer more time before making a buying decision, therefore you will need to produce more content than ever before.
So remember to be consistent in those efforts.
Blogging allows for a better customer experience as you can see first hand by your content how you communicate and others can communicate with you as well. It is not a one-way street saying BUY, BUY, BUY.
Rather it is a two-way street in which you can really find out how you can help your potential customer and vice versa.
In certain cases by taking this approach you can also charge a higher premium for your products and services in which you will get that almost every time.
You can see why blogging is the best online marketing tool for customer acquisition as evidenced by the information and statistics shared here today.
Customers are indeed what you and every business owner not only needs to survive, but flourish as well. If you’re not using blogging currently to acquire new customers, I strongly encourage you do so. What do you have to lose?
How do you acquire new customers?
