You really need your own piece of online real estate that you have complete control over. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, are great tools, but your account can be closed or terminated at any time. Should you use these tools in your marketing? Absolutely. I would not use them as a primary means to build your online presence. Imagine if you spend all this time, money, and energy learning the latest tips, tricks, for Facebook and one day your account is closed or banned. Now everything you had done is lost and there is no way of getting it back. Same can be said for Twitter, YouTube, etc., etc. This is a reality because you do not own Facebook or any of these social media outlets.
This is why you need to have your own piece of online real estate that you have complete control over. No one will be able to take it away from you. Granted starting your own blog may appear to be a daunting task, but it is really simple as I am technically challenged and I can do it. I have written other blog posts on this subject matter so you can utilize them as a resource to help you get going and create your own piece of online real estate.
