As I have discussed with you many times before you are in the direct sales industry and we are going to talk about the top 2 ways you can make money. Put your hard hat on and let’s get started. You make money in direct sales by affiliate marketing or network marketing.
- Affiliate Marketing – As an affiliate you are basically a salesperson for a company’s product or service. If you sell said company’s product or service you get paid a percentage of the sale price or a flat fee. All you have to do is sell the product to your prospects and the company who makes the product handles all of the details – payment processing, product delivery, etc. Are you with me? Where do you find affiliate programs to sell or what types of affiliate programs should you sell? We’ll answer that right here.
Click bank is a great resource for finding affiliate programs to sell to your audience. There are other resources out there, but I find Clickbank to be the best to start with as it is straightforward and easy to use. Now there are a gazillion affiliate opportunities out there, but we are going to stick with Clickbank to avoid you developing the shiny object syndrome. Make sense? Sweet!
Where is the best place to sell your affiliate programs online?
A blog. More specifically your OWN blog. Your own BRANDED blog. What do I mean by this? I mean purchasing a domain name – yourname.com. I use GoDaddy and recommend you use them. Then you need hosting to build your piece of online real estate. Hostgator is my preferred hosting provider and I use them to host my blog. Last, but not least your blog needs to have a professional appearance so you are perceived as credible, legitimate, and trustworthy. The theme used on my blog is the News Pro theme from Studiopress. If the thought of putting all of this together seems overwhelming no need to worry my friend I can do it for you.
Now in order to generate an income from most affiliate programs you need to sell a truck load as they are usually low cost and your commissions are fairly low. Except when we are talking about high-ticket affiliate programs. High ticket affiliate programs typically cost anywhere from $2,000 to $30,000 to become a member, but this is where you earn the big bucks my friend! For example commissions in these high ticket programs are anywhere from $1,000 up to $15,000 per sale. Do you think you can generate an income this way? Your answer better be YES. As an aside it does not take that much more time or effort to sell a high ticket item that may net you a grand versus selling a product that will earn you 20 bucks a sale. Here are some people I suggest you go learn from as they know how to rake it in within this space and you will find value in checking them out.
In a nutshell that is affiliate marketing. Any questions?
- Network Marketing – This is a type of marketing where you do 2 things. 1) Sell your product to customers and 2) Build a team of distributors or consultants like yourself designed to build a network marketing organization from scratch. You are compensated in a number of different ways in network marketing which can be quite lucrative, but will give you a brain freeze when trying to make sense of it. There are 4 different types of compensation plans in network marketing. We will discuss those now. Read each one slowly so you do not get confused.

Here is a great resource for industry news, facts, and figures that I suggest you check out.
Now we need to talk about something very important about this industry – specifically network marketing. Although there is a lot of pomp and circumstance with so and so becoming a millionaire in months after they were homeless and eating out of a trash can it takes TIME and EFFORT to make that kind of scratch. Can you do it? Absolutely! Without a shadow of a doubt, if you put in the time and effort required and exhibit a little patience you can be successful. Will that mean millions for you? Maybe. Maybe not. Bottom line if you learn and implement what you have learned you are well on your way to being successful not only in network marketing, but anything you choose to do. When you get a moment go check Ray Higdon as he is a leader in this industry and someone you should follow. No really you should go see what Ray is about.
What is the best tool for generating leads for your network marketing business online?
Yep. You guessed it. YOUR OWN BRANDED BLOG. Scroll up the page and follow what we just talked about in so far as how to get started with setting up your blog. So you may be asking how does this allow me to get new customers and recruit new distributors? Simple. Either build your blog around the networking marketing company you’re in and offer tips, tricks, guides, and any resources to help others who may be considering joining the same opportunity with you. Or teach network marketers how they can generate leads for their business regardless of what opportunity they are in. By employing this method you are in fact helping others which in turns helps you build a relationship and can potentially lead to a new customer or distributor. Does this sound like a better alternative then chasing down your friends and family? I think so too.
In order to get a better grasp on what a blog might look like for those in network marketing or examples of how to design one for yourself go take a look at the blogs I am mentioning below.
