A two-month old red panda bear cub at Taronga Zoo in Sydney, Australia is recovering nicely after suffering a neck injury. The injury occurred while being carried in her mother’s mouth.
Zoo officials are happy to report that the red panda cub also known as Maiya is getting the care she needs and gaining weight nicely while guzzling down copious amounts of her milk formula.
Better yet, the wound on her neck is healing as expected and is almost completely healed.

Say hello to Maiya, a Red Panda cub who is making a remarkable recovery with the help of a special surrogate mum. Taronga keeper, Tamara is providing round-the-clock care to the two-month-old cub, after she sustained a neck injury while being carried in her mother’s mouth. Maiya is now thriving thanks to veterinary care and regular bottle feeds and keepers are taking steps to gradually reintroduce her to her parents.
